Overview

Angel Beats takes place in the afterlife and focuses on Otonashi, a boy who lost his memories of his life after dying. He is enrolled into the afterlife school and meets a girl named Yuri who invites him to join the Afterlife Battlefront — an organization she leads which fights against God. The Battlefront fight against the student council president Angel, a girl with supernatural powers.

Angel Beats! is set in a mysterious afterlife high school, where deceased teenagers are sent to come to terms with their regrets and unfulfilled desires from life. The world appears as a typical Japanese school, but it’s a liminal space between life and death. The story primarily follows Otonashi Yuzuru, who wakes up in this afterlife with no memory of his life. He soon encounters a group called the Afterlife Battlefront (SSS), which fights against the student council president Tenshi (Angel), whom they believe represents a cruel system controlling their fates.
